We live in the space technology only to see what had happened in the space some billions of light years ago. We can't see whats there now. Probably Intelligent Life existed and perished there, by now. And if that life exists there right now, there is no way to tell if they are capable of watching us back, who are at the same distance from us. That is because the visual imaging is limited to the speed of light. Technically speaking, the alien intelligent life will see the formation of our star or nebula when they look at us right now.
One thing is for sure, we can't see intelligent life in space through light, unless it near enough. We will find the formation of their galaxy.
And they can't see us. They will find the formation of our galaxy which happened some billions of light years ago from now.
